Gautam claims he is still UML Vice-chair

Says Chairman Oli's SC formation has no meaning

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Bamdev Gautam has claimed that he is still the vice-chairman of the party.

Commenting on the party UML’s 10th General Convention Organizing Committee’s decision to appoint him as Standing Committee member on Friday, leader Gautam said that such decisions have no meanings at all.

Leader Gautam has been advocating for party unity since Prime Minister KP Oli dismissed the House of Representatives on December 20. After the Supreme Court verdict annulling the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party, Gautam has been reiterating on the need of moving ahead united.

He has been trying to unite the disgruntled Nepal-Khanal faction and Chairman Oli led faction in the party.

Gautam was nominated a member of the SC by the CPN-UML’s Tenth General Convention Organizing Committee held at Prime Minister Oli’s official residence Baluwatar Friday.

Earlier, he had attended the dinner party organized by PM Oli on Thursday evening.

Citing that his yesterday’s meeting has been linked with his nomination as the SC member by party Chair Oli, Gautam has remarked that he does not agree with the Chairman’s latest move.

He even criticized PM and UML Chair Oli for the latter’s unilateral decisions.

“I am the Vice-Chairman of the party elected by the 9th general convention,” leader Gautam said, adding,” The decisions like formation of SC unilaterally has no meaning at all.”
