UML divides portfolio of general convention organizing committee members

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has divided portfolios of its 10th national general convention organizing committee members.

A meeting of the organizing committee held at the Prime Minister residence Baluwatar today allocated work responsibilities of the committee members.

However, leaders close to senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal have not been entrusted with any responsibilities.

According to the new portfolio division, Chairperson KP Oli has been designated the in-charge of party department of school while general secretary Iswar Pokharel with the responsibilities of party central office in-charge and Valley special committee deputy in-charge.

Likewise, Bishnu Prasad Poudel was designated the in-charge of the department of organization; and the department of finance and planning. Ram Bahadur Thapa was given the portfolio of in-charge of Bagmati province and the department of national security promotion. Lekharaj Bhatta was entrusted with the responsibilities of Sudurpaschim in-charge and the chief of the department of industry and commerce.

The committee has decided to designate the portfolio of the in-charge of department of urban planning, Nepal Federation of Professionals and Nepal Intellectuals Council and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi with the portfolio of in-charge of fronts and organizations.

Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has been designated the responsibility of the party spokesperson and in-charge of publicity and publication department. Subash Nembang has been given the in-charge of province-1 and the department of parliamentary affairs.

The meeting has allotted the responsibilities of the in-charge of the department of foreign affairs and Diaspora sector to Dr Rajan Bhattarai, Agni Prasad Kharel with the in-charge of election department and Bishnu Prasad Rimal with the in-charge of economic department and General Federation of the Nepalese Trade Union.

Similarly, Surya Thapa has been designated the responsibilities of the deputy in-charge of the publicity and publication department and in-charge of Press Chautari Nepal.

Influential leaders close to Madhav Kumar Nepal, including Jhalanath Khanal, Bamdev Gautam, Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Astalaxmi Shakya, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Yogesh Bhattarai, Bhim Acharya and Gokarna Bista were not allocated with any responsibilities.

Sher Bahadur Tamang has been entrusted with the responsibility of central party secretary.
