67 vultures die ‘after consuming toxic carcass’



KATHMANDU: As many as 67 vultures have been found dead at Ramgram municipality in West Nawalparasi.

Locals have suspected that they have died after consuming toxic carcass thrown away at the public land of Ramgram municipality-4, Jitpur.

According to a local, the endangered vultures including slender-billed vulture and red-headed vulture have died after eating the carcass of a dog dumped after poisoning it to death.

Bird Conservation Nepal, Butwal has said the vultures had fallen sick after consuming the carcass of a dog poisoned to death.

The local administration has launched a manhunt to nab the person who dumped the dog’s carcass.
