UML’s general convention organizing committee meet underway at Baluwatar

To discuss political and organizational reports

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the general convention organizing committee of the ruling CPN-UML has started at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Friday.

The meeting has been called meeting at a time when the intra-party dispute of the UML has taken a new height.

Even though Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairman of the UML, held separate one-on-one meetings with leaders Madhav Nepal and Bamdev Gautam, the dispute has gone unabated, with both the sides sticking to their guns.

The leaders of Nepal-Khanal faction and Bamdev group are unlikely to attend the meeting, said a UML source. Today’s meeting is expected to dwell on the organizational and political reports of the party.

Earlier on April 19, a UML meeting had decided to seek clarification from 32 lawmakers including five provincial lawmakers of Karnali Province.

Some lawmakers including Nepal have already submitted their clarifications. UML Parliamentary Party’s Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said a further action will be initiated based on the clarifications furnished by the leaders close to the Nepal-Khanal faction.

Echoing to Bhattarai, UML leader Karna Thapa said today’s meeting will take further actions against the leaders close to the Nepal-Khanal faction.
