UML and JSP discuss constitution amendment, government formation

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has decided to hold dialogue with Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) on government formation and other issues.

A meeting between Prime Minister KP Oli and leaders of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) held at the former’s residence in Baluwatar discussed the government formation, the release of JSP lawmaker Resham Chaudhary, among others.

UML leader Subash Chandra Nemwang said that the meeting focused on the Constitution amendment, withdrawal of cases against individuals of the Madhes movement, release of Chaudhary, making public the Lal Commission report, and other issues.

The meeting was stalled as the lawmakers had to attend the meeting of the House of Representatives.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Oli has been endeavoring to forge an alliance with JSP as forging an alliance with the Madesh-based party can suffice to garner a majority in the Parliament.

JSP leaders, including Manahtha Thakur, Laxman Lal Karna and Sarbendra Nath Shukla had reached Baluwatar on Tuesday morning to hold talks with PM Oli.
