NC leader Thapa accuses govt of revenge against parliament

KATHMANDU: Main Opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has accused the government of taking revenge against the parliament merely to justify the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the zero hour at the House of Representatives, lawmaker Thapa lambasted the government for not giving any business to the House for discussion.

“We are here to discuss on the Bills, but the government has given no business for the House just to quench the former’s ego against the parliament,” lawmaker Thapa said.

He scoffed at the government for its attempt to prove the parliament a useless place and added, “The government spreads the rumor that the bill to punish acid attackers was not allowed to be tabled for motion, however, the truth is that the government has not tabled a single bill in the parliament and has not called the meeting of National Assembly mandatory to discuss such bills.”

Labeling the government attitude as ill-intent, Thapa said that Prime Minister KP Oli will keep on making the mockery of the parliament merely to take revenge against it.

PM Oli had dissolved the House of Representatives on December 20; however, the Supreme Court had revived the parliament on February 23.

NC lawmaker Thapa vowed to struggle to retain the glory of the parliament.
