PM Oli-JSP leaders meeting hits a snag

KATHMANDU: The meeting held between the leaders of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Prime Minister KP Oli has ended without reaching a logical conclusion on Tuesday.

The JSP leaders had reached Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to hold talks with Prime Minister Oli on the demands which they have been raising since long.

“We urged Prime Minister Oli to fulfill our demands,” said leader Karna, adding, “Prime Minister Oli also assured that the government will fulfill our demands in a transparent manner.”

Leaders, including Mahantha Thakur, Sarbendra Nath Shukla and Laxman Lal Karna were in the meeting.

JSP has been demanding the release of lawmaker Resham Chaudhary, report of the Lal Commission and an amendment to the Constitution.

JSP, which has a crucial role in power-sharing, has yet to make its stance clear whether to give continuity to the Oli-led government or seek an alternative.
