Two injured in Kailali police firing



DHANGADHI:  Two persons have sustained injuries after police fired shots to bring the tense situation under control in Lamki of Kailali district on Tuesday morning.

Tension flared in Lamki after locals staged a demonstration against the death of Kamala Devkota, 22, of Lamkichuha Municipality-1.

Devkota died after being hit by a bus, Na 68833, which was heading towards Tikapur from Lamki on the East-West Highway in Kailali.

Police Inspector Hikmat Thapa of District Police Office, Kailali, said that shots were fired to control the situation in the area.

According to him, two protestors have been injured in the incident. They have been sent to Kohalpur for treatment.

Irate locals have picketed the Area Police Office and have been blocking the highway and burning tires.

Police said that they have already arrested bus driver Pushpa Kandel, 31, of Bardogoria Rural Municipality-1.
