Maoist Center to seek review on SC’s decision to nullify NCP

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to go to the Supreme Court this week seeking a review of its decision to nullify the Nepal Communist Party.

Standing Committee member Pampha Bhusal said that the party’s Standing Committee meeting held at Singha Durbar Tuesday morning decided to seek review of the Supreme Court’s decision.

The Supreme Court had decided to dissolve the NCP on March 7.

Terming the SC’s decision a political one, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” had said that he would go for a review of the court’s decision.

Earlier today, the party had consulted with the legal experts, including Shambhu Thapa, Ram Narayan Bidari, Chandeshwar Shrestha, Mukti Pradhan and others.

There is a legal provision to seek review within 60 days of the court’s decision.

Meanwhile, the Maoist Center is still supporting the Prime Minister Oli-led government even after the Supreme Court restored the erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center, scrapping their unification as the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

Maoist Center leaders have been saying that their party has not yet withdrawn its support to the Oli-led government since main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) are still undecided over the new power-sharing.
