PM Cup: Lumbini beats Sudurpaschim by six wickets



KATHMANDU: Lumbini has defeated Sudurpaschim by six wickets in a match of the Prime Minister Cup Men’s International Cricket Tournament on Saturday.

With this win, Lumbini notched up four points from three games paving the way for the journey towards semin-finals. Bagmati is atop the points table with six points from three matches, Nepal Police club has four points from three matches and Lumbini is in the second position leaving Police behind in run rate.

With three consecutive defeats, Sudurpaschim has been out of the PM Cup cricket journey.

Chasing the 63-run target set by Sudurpaschim, Lumbini achieved the target in 14.5 overs, losing four wickets.

Lumbini’s Saurav Khanal made unbeaten 18 runs, Prakash KC 17 and skipper Krishna Karki made 15 runs.

In reply, Sudurpaschim’s Sher Malla took two wickets and Binod Lama grabbed one wicket of Lumbini.

Earlier, Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Sudurpaschim notched up 62 runs losing all wickets in 27.4 overs.

Narayan Joshi made highest 17 runs, skipper Santosh Bhatta scored 11 runs while the other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.

On the bowling side, Lumbini’s  Krishna Karki  took highest four wickets, Anil Kharel and Bikram Bhusal grabbed two wickets each while Sandeep Sunar and Dipendra Rawat claimed one wicket each restricting Sudurpaschim to paltry 62 runs.

Lumbini is in the third position with two points from two matches under group ‘B’.

In the first match, it had defeated Pradesh 2 by 77 runs and faced a 74-run defeat at the hands of Police Club in the second match. Sudurpaschim has lost two matches as it is without points.

Sudurpaschim had lost to Bagmati Pradesh by 180 runs in the first match and faced a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Police Club in the second match.
