BP Highway disrupted following explosion; bomb planted on Arniko Highway defused

KATHMANDU:  A huge explosion has taken place at Mangaltar along the BP Highway in Kavre district.

Suspecting that a bomb may have been detonated, police have started investigating the incident by halting the transportation, said Bagmati Pradesh Police Chief DIG Basanta Lama.

Similarly, Nepal Police has disposed a pressure cooker bomb planted at Budol of Banepa in Kavrepalanchowk.

With the disposal of the bomb by the NA team, the transportation has resumed along the Arniko Highway from 3 am today, said District Police Office, Kavre.

Police have suspected Biplav outfit’s hand behind the plantation of the bomb to protest the arrest of its central secretariat member Dharmendra Bastola alias ‘Kanchan’.

Kanchan had been arrested from the border area of Lalitpur and Makwanpur on January 13.
