President Bhandari offers worship at Jaleshwor Mahadev Temple

MAHOTTARI: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today offered worship at Baba Jaleshwornath Mahadev Mandir (temple) and paid homage to Mahadev. The temple is located in Jaleshwor, the administrative headquarters of the Mahottari district.

The Nepali Army extracted out water from the cave in the temple premises as the President was expected to come here for paying homage. Head-of-the-State entered the Gupha Griha (cave room) and offered worship.

The main cave at the Jaleshwor Mahadev temple is 16 steps under the surface and is filled with water round the clock. It is believed here that Baba Jaleshwornath Mahadev (a form of the Hindu god Mahadev) resides in water throughout the year.

On the occasion, President Bhandari received tika and Prasad from the main priest at the temple, Upendra Pathak.

The devotees have to wait for a special day for getting a glimpse of the Shivalinga which is 20 feet below the ground inside the temple. This is possible only when all water is drained out of the cave.’

Mayor of Jaleshwor Municipality Ram Shankar Mishra, the chief priest of the temple, officials, and locals welcomed the President when she arrived here for the visit.
