Death toll from Baitadi jeep mishap climbs to six



BAITADI: The death toll from Baitadi jeep accident occurred at Dasharathchand Municipality-4 last night reached six.

The jeep (Ma 1 Ja 310) was carrying the people attending a wedding ceremony from Dehimadau to Simayal of the municipality in the district. It is said that five persons died on the spot while driver Dipak Mali, 40, of Dadeldhura district died on the way to Dhangadhi hospital.

According to Police Inspector Darshan Khadka, all the deceased except driver Mali are from Dasharathchand Municipality. The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Bahadur Chand, 48, Dhan Bahadur Chand, 38, Prem Bahadur Chand, 65, Tara Singh Thapa, 65, and Khem Singh Karki, 58.

Seriously injured Harka Bahadur Chand, 48, of Dasharathchand Municipality-4 has been referred to Dhangadhi hospital for further treatment.

The jeep fell some 700 meters down the roadway, according to police.
