Investigation demanded on damage of access road

KANCHANPUR: Political parties and their sister organizations have demanded the investigation of the breach of blacktopped access roadway which was under construction along the Mahakali River. They demanded investigation citing the public complaint that low quality construction materials were used to build the access road.

CPN UML Bhimdatt municipal committee chair Ramesh Tirua and secretary Bhagat Singh BK issued a press release and demanded the government to probe on the damage of the access road and take action against those involved in such non-standard construction. “There is huge public concern that low quality materials were used to construct the access road known as viral road,” they said, drawing the attention of the concerned authorities.

Similarly, All Nepal Revolutionary chair in district Kailash Chandra Giri, YCL secretary Tilak Japrel, coordinator of ANNFSU affiliated to CPN (Unified Socialist), Ramesh Pant, and joint coordinator of Youth Association Nepal, Mukesh Singh demanded the investigation on the breach of the viral road at ward no 11, 12, 13 and 14 of Bhimdatta Municipality. They drew the attention of all sides concerned that the viral road was being constructed as part of the six-lane Mahakali Bridge which is the national pride project.

The viral road was damaged by the recent floods in Mahakali River.

In the press release, they wondered why low quality materials were used to build the road. A committee must be formed to investigate into the technical weaknesses of the project, they added.

More than 300 meters of viral road stretching from four-lane road to Bhujela stream was damaged by the floods.
