15% population tested positive for COVID-19 in Sudurpaschim Province

SUDURPASCHIM: Forty-five thousand nine hundred and sixty-one people of the total 305,857 COVID-19 tests in Sudurpaschim Province so far have been tested positive for the virus, according to available data.

The infection tests including PCR and antigen was around 15 percent of the total population of the Province, over 2.5 million.

Of the infected, 45,216 have got over the infection, which is a 98 percent recovery rate, according to the Health Directorate, Dipayal.

The death toll from the virus in the Province has hit 580.

Of the total nine districts in the Province, the districts affected by the virus the most are Kailali and Kanchanpur.

Fifteen people of the total 969 COVID-19 tests were found with the infection in the past 24 hours. In the past two weeks alone, 564 new infected people were added and 495 have been free of the infection. Likewise, two persons have died from the infection.

Lately, the infection rate has decreased.

At present, active infection cases are 408, a drop from 502 two weeks ago. The prohibition order has been loosened, however.

High mobility of people in the public space and violation of the health protocols have increased risks, health workers warned.
