Govt decides to resume domestic and international flights conditionally



KATHMANDU: The government has decided on conditional resumption of domestic and international flights.

The cabinet meeting on Monday decided to resume flights by fixing quotas for destinations and the airline companies.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, domestic flights will not exceed 50 percent of the total number. The Ministry will work out the schedule and dates for conditional resumption of domestic flights by Wednesday.

The government has decided to expand regular flights to international destinations as well.

As per the decision, weekly four flights are allowed on the Kathmandu-Doha route. Nepal Airlines and Qatar Airlines each will operate two flights from Kathmandu to Doha every week.

Likewise, there will be two weekly flights from Kathmandu to Istanbul, Dammam and Kuwait; 4 weekly flights to Dubai and Malaysia. One flight per week will be operated from Kathmandu to Muscat, South Korea, Japan, Chengdu and Guangzhou.
