SC rectifies verdict on cabinet reshuffle: Poudel cannot remain DPM

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has corrected Bishnu Prasad Poudel’s mention as Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) while issuing its verdict to revoke cabinet reshuffle Tuesday.

An order passed by a division bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana and Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana had erringly stated that Poudel was the Deputy Prime Minister.

According to SC sources, it had been a mistake to note Poudel as DPM in the order.

Finance Minister Poudel had been promoted to Deputy Prime Minister on June 4 by Prime Minister KP Oli.

After today’s SC verdict, 20 ministers have been relieved from their posts. The cabinet expansions of June 4 and 10 have been revoked by the SC.
