NC grants 55 Mahasamiti members to former RPP leader Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has given 55 Mahasamiti members to Deputy General Secretary of the party Sunil Thapa who had quit Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) to join NC.

An inter-party integration committee led by Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi allocated 55 members to Thapa as per the decision of the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

There are 10 members including Thapa in the CWC of the party from his camp. NC’s CWC members become ex-officio representatives for the general convention as per the provision laid down in the party statute.

Thapa’s other 45 members have to win the ward-level elections to participate in the 14th General Convention as representatives, informed NC’s Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.

Mahasamiti members have to win elections to become representatives for the general convention.

Even though Thapa demanded 150 Mahasamiti members for his camp, the party granted him only 55 members today (June 22), said an NC source.
