PM directs Election Commission to gear up for election



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the Election Commission to gear up in preparations for holding an election on the stipulated date.

Summoning the Election Commission officials to his official residence at Baluwatar today, he instructed them to forge ahead in the preparation for the mid-term election to the House of Representatives slated for upcoming November 12 and 19.

PM Oli on the occasion clarified that the nation was headed towards the election itself as a political way out has become imperative in the present situation, Prime Minister’s press advisor Surya Thapa said.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on the recommendation of the government, last night set the date for the mid-term election to the House of Representatives to be held in two phases.

The Prime Minister held discussions with the Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya among other election commissioners today after the President set the date for the election.
