KATHMANDU: Leaders of the opposition alliance are set to fight a political and legal battle against Prime Minister KP Oli’s dissolution of the House of Representatives.
A meeting of the opposition parties held at the Lhotse Building of the Parliament House in New Baneshwor on Saturday decided to fight a political and legal battle against the move of the President and the Prime Minister.
Claiming both CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba failed to offer substantive basis to form a new government, President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the parliament on Friday midnight at the recommendation of PM Oli.
A meeting of NC President Deuba, CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ , UML’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, JSP Chairmen Upendra Yadav and Baburam Bhattarai, Rastriya Janamorcha’s Vice Chairperson Durga Poudel and other leaders decided to go to the Supreme Court with the signatures of 149 lawmakers for political protest and legal battle.
Representatives of the opposition alliance are expected to reach the Supreme Court after consulting legal experts Sunday.
