Indian PM Modi stresses need of sustainable lifestyles in climate action



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of lifestyle change in climate action on the occasion of Earth Day (April 22).

Earth Day is an international event celebrated around the world to pledge support for environmental protection.

United States President Joe Biden has hosted a virtual meeting with the world’s leaders titled the ‘Leaders Summit on Climate’, as a precursor to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which is slated later this year.

Addressing the Summit Thursday evening, PM Modi said, “Sustainable lifestyles and guiding philosophy of back to basics must be an important pillar of our economic strategy for the post-Covid era.”

He called on world leaders to make the current decade a decade of action against climate change.

Nearly 40 other world leaders are participating in the Summit.
