KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Madhav Kumar Nepal has alleged Prime Minister KP Oli of making a constitutional coup by dissolving the House of Representatives.

Lambasting Oli for deviating from the path of communist ideology, Nepal said, “PM Oli is moving on the path of Hitlerism. His decision to dissolve the House is an example of constitutional coup and authoritarianism.”

“He is no more a communist,” Nepal said while addressing a mass meeting organized by his faction in Kathmandu on Friday saying, “I can’t understand how he joined the communist movement.”

He accused PM Oli of repeatedly deceiving party leaders, including him and Prachanda labeling the Prime Minister a “total failure”.

“We repeatedly suggested him to refrain from making commitments and promises that cannot be fulfilled,” Nepal told the mass, adding, “He, however, never paid heed to our suggestions.”

Former Prime Minister Nepal criticized Oli for “giving orders” in the party rather than working closely with other leaders.

He also dismissed Oli’s claim that NCP leaders, including him and Prachanda, were more focused on power-sharing rather than cooperating with the government.

Saying that Oli lacks a majority in the party, Nepal said PM Oli should have stepped down on the basis of self-respect.

“We must also confess that we failed to bring Oli to the right track,” he added saying, “We should have taken the right approach, which we failed to do so.”
