Leaders reject Deuba’s proposal to join provincial govt

KATHMANDU: In discussion Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba held with party leaders at his Budhanilkantha based residence, party leaders rejected the proposal to join the province government.

NC President Deuba had a discussion with the party leaders at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Friday morning.
According to NC sources, former Prime Minister Deuba had proposed to join the Oli faction to form the government in the provinces, but most of the central committee members disagreed with the proposal.

The Central Committee Members of NC reiterated the need to make the same policy in the province and the federal government.

“The Central Committee Member so NC rejected the party president’s proposal citing the party should make the same policy at the federal and province level.

Amid the increasing tension in the ruling Nepal Communist Party(NCP), Prime Minister KP Oli got the House of Representatives dissolved on December 20. The move paved the way for the party split and political crisis in the country.

NCP which had formed government in all provinces but for Province 2, is unofficially divided into Prime Minister KP
Oli led faction and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ –Madhav Kumar Nepal led faction and the supporters of one group have started hatching a conspiracy against the other.

As a result, both factions are trying to appease NC and bag NC’s support to form the government of their faction.

A no-confidence motion has been tabled against the Chief Ministers of Province 1 and Bagmati Province.

Lately criticized for power-sharing with PM Oli in the recommendation for various posts in various constitutional bodies, former PM and NC President Deuba is believed to have inclined towards the PM Oli camp of NCP.
