It’s the govt’s responsibility to move MCC forward: Home Minister Khand



JANAKPURDHAM: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said that it is the responsibility of the government to move the MCC agreement forward in the parliament.

Talking to media persons in Janakpur on Tuesday, Home Minister Khand said that the MCC agreement was started during the previous government and it was the responsibility of the government to move the agreement forward.

He said that the MCC proposal was put forward by the government for the development of the country.

Home Minister Khand also clarified that the MCC project was not a loan but an unconditional grant.

He said the MCC project came after the US government accepted the government’s proposal for electrification and road construction in Nepal.

The US government is running projects related to poverty alleviation and employment.

He said that discussions were underway among the political parties regarding the passage of the MCC by the parliament, adding that conclusions would be drawn from the discussions and move forward.
