Elephants destroy 28 houses in Sindhuli



SINDHULIMADHI: Wild elephants have destroyed 28 houses,  terrorizing the locals in Dudhauli municipality-11 of Sindhuli district.

Ward Chairman Kumar Lama informed that the elephants destroyed four houses until Sunday night and 24 houses had been demolished a few days ago.

Locals have escaped after a herd of elephants entered the settlement at midnight on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross and Dudhauli municipality has provided food, clothes and tarpaulin to 18 families whose houses were demolished by the wild tuskers. The rest of the victim’s family members have taken shelter in a neighbour’s house.

According to the locals, the wild elephants are staying in the nearby forest. Ward Chairman Lama said that the Division Forest Office has been requested to drive away the elephants.
