Most justices conduct hearing at SC

KATHMANDU: Most of the Justices given assignment conducted hearing on all sorts of cases, including habeas corpus, at Supreme Court on Sunday.

Chief Justice Cholendra Sumser JB Rana allocated the hearing to the Justices. Among the cases, there were 10 division benches and a single bench. However, one division bench could not be held.

The division bench comprising Justices Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Hari Prasad Phunyal failed to conduct the hearing. The full court meeting last Thursday had decided to pass a regulation to conduct hearing on lottery system.

Since then, the agitating Justices returned to the regular work. The Justices had denied conducting hearing since October 24, demanding the reform in judiciary. However, some cases of habeas corpus were heard.
