Bhim Rawal announces candidature for the post of UML Chair

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal has officially announced his candidature for the post of the party Chairman at the party’s upcoming general convention.

Holding a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday, formerly disgruntled leader of the party has announced he will be contesting for the party’s leading post in the forthcoming general convention.

While the establishment faction is trying to give continuity to KP Oli as the unanimous chairman, Rawal’s candidature, though apparently weaker in front of Chairman Oli, has come as a threat to the leaders ‘contesting’ to please Oli to get favor.

Earlier, at at a program organized in the home district of Achham two weeks ago, Vice Chairman Rawal had said that he would contest for the post.

He is dissatisfied with UML chairperson Oli for the latter’s indifference towards the implementation of the 10-point agreement made to settle the party dispute.

Rawal also informed the reporters that he wished to announce his candidacy from the party’s central office; however, he could not get permission for that.

“I wanted to announce my candidature from our office in Thapathali. That is the official central office. It would have been better to nominate candidates for the General Convention from there, “he said.” But what I have learned from the General Secretary is that all the rooms there are already occupied due to the busy schedule of the General Convention. “
