Mountain flights resume as COVID-19 subsides in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Mountain flights that were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and popular among tourists and locals alike have resumed in Nepal.

Nepali airline companies had been offering mountain flights for tourists with a close view of mountains, including Mount Everest.

As the coronavirus pandemic is on the decline, Buddha Air Tuesday announced that it would restart mountain flights every Saturday. According to the company, the ticket price for mountain flight has been fixed at Rs 9,999 for two passengers. The airline will be using its larger ATR aircraft for mountain flights.

Mountain flights are being started as the weather is also generally clear during the Dashain festival. During the flight, passengers can closely observe about two dozen major peaks, including Mount Everest, up close.

Yeti Airlines is also set to operate mountain flights on Saturdays and Sundays. According to Yeti Airlines Spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, the flights will start from Saturday. The airline has set the cost of two tickets at Rs. 8,848.
