KATHMANDU: The Office of the Financial Comptroller has ruled that there was irregularity in leasing 2792 ropanis of land of the Nepal Trust in Gokarna to the Yeti group.

Stating that the country has incurred a loss by leasing without competition and without re-evaluating the land the Financial Comptroller has recommended to re-evaluate the land and put it on lease. The then government led by KP Oli has been accused of committing corruption by leasing land at a price far below the market price.

With six years left in the lease period, a year and a half ago, the government had leased the Trust’s land to a resort run by the Yeti Group for another 25 years.
