280,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrive from Japan today

Out of 1.6 mln doses, over 800,000 arrive so far, rest to arrive by Monday



KATHMANDU: Additional 280 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccine provided by Japan to Nepal in grant assistance have arrived in Kathmandu today.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population,  the vaccines have been provided by the Japan government under the COVAX facility.

Out of the 1.6 million doses, more than 800 thousands have already arrived and rest are scheduled to arrive by Monday.

In the meantime,  out of 6 million doses of Vero Cell purchases by Nepal from Chinese Sinopharm Company, 1.6 million doses have been received on Wednesday and Thursday.

Vaccination drive has been expedited ,of late, and students of Grade 11 and 12 have been asked to get inoculated on Friday and Saturday. People above 40 are also receiving their first dose of vaccine since yesterday.
