KATHMANDU: Ruling CPN-UML filed a writ petition against the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate four UML provincial lawmakers of Karnali Pradesh.

UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli lodged the writ petition at the SC seeking annulment of its interim order issued by the single bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.

UML lawmakers Prakash Jwala, Ammar Bahadur Thapa, Kurma Raj Shahi and Nanda Singh Budha had voted for the CPN (Maoist Center) government in Karnali Pradesh against the party’s decision.

UML had penalized them by stripping them of party’s general memberships after they voted for Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.

Following the party’s action, they had moved the SC against the party’s action.

The SC then issued a verdict stating that the general convention organizing committee of the UML cannot take action against them.

Following the interim order of the SC, these four provincial lawmakers are still in their posts.
