KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the process of a new power-sharing has been initiated under Article 76 (5) with no signs of securing the vote of confidence again.
Speaking at a press meet organized at Baluwatar, Prime Minister clarified that the government invoked Article 76 (5) for a new government so as to introduce the upcoming budget without any hassles.
“There has been a provisional compulsion for the government to bring the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 by May 29. Prior to this, the government has to also introduce its policies and programs. If we go for the vote of confidence, it will take a week or even more (May 26-28). Hence, we have taken up a fast-track to bring the budget,” clarified Prime Minister Oli.
He hinted that the 5 pm today deadline has been given since the government is running out of time, claiming that he has no intent to dissolve the parliament.
“How will the parliament be dissolved while calling for the formation of an alternative government?” asked Prime Minister Oli.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli has challenged the opposition parties to form a new government by ousting him.
“I happily welcome the formation of an alternative government,” PM Oli told reporters in Baluwatar on Friday.
PM Oli also said that he telephoned Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and urged him to form a national government.
“This morning I called Deuba and asked him to form the government. If not, I asked him to join my government to give it a national shape.”
Prime Minister Oli added said that the parliament would not be dissolved if the opposition parties supported him.
“If you can’t form a new government, support me,” he urged the opposition parties adding, “Did I ever said I will dissolve the parliament?”
He urged the opposition parties to support him to form a national government and jointly combat the CONVID-19 pandemic.
