Taskforce formed to work out on constitution amendment

KATHMANDU:  A task force comprising leaders of the government side and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has been formed to carry out the groundwork for amending the constitution.

JSP Chairman Mahanta Thakur informed that a five-member task force has been formed for the purpose.

According to him, Laxman Lal Karna and Sarbendranath Shukla from JSP and Agni Kharel, Bishnu Rimal and Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel from UML are members of the task force.

Prime Minister KP Oli and JSP Chairman Thakur had on Thursday agreed to form a five-member task force to amend the constitution.

The Madhes-centric parties, which have been voicing dissent since the drafting of the constitution, had been demanding amendments to it.

According to the leader, the constitution could be amended on the basis of necessity and justification.
