KATHMANDU: Chief of Province 2 Dr. Rajesh Ahiraj has participated in a special ceremony held to install statues of Lord Ram-Sita at Ram temple on the occasion of Ramnawami, in Ayodhapuri, Madi of Chitwan Wednesday.

Province 2 Governor Ahiraj reached Madi carrying soil and sacred water of Ganga from Janaki temple in Janakpurdham. He also carried with himself earth of Chataradham in Barahachhetra and water of Koshi River as offerings to worship Lord Ram and his wife Sita, who hails from Janakpurdham.

The governor said the ceremony on the occasion of Ramnawami would add to the significance of Hindu tradition, help in religious promotion of Lord Ram’s birthplace and would foster communal harmony.

The idols of Ram, Sita, Laxman, and Hanuman were carried from the Office of Prime Minister on Tuesday for installation in a temple constructed at Ayodhyadham of Madi.

The special ceremony was also attended by Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Bagmati Province Chief Minister Dormani Poudel and other high-ranking officials.
