‘Cubes in Space’ is a global competition to design and propose experiments to launch into space or a near-space environment on a NASA-sounding rocket or zero-pressure scientific balloon.

The event aims to create opportunities of international standard for Nepali students, said NASO Chair Suresh Bhattarai.

In the five-week special workshop, school students from 11 to 18 years of age or those completing school education can participate. Students can participate in the program from home for the first four weeks and they will have to come to Kathmandu in the last week.

For the competition, students will design their projects, submit projects for evaluation. If shortlisted, the project will be sent to the Virginia-based ‘Cubes in Space’ office.

NASO will select 50 students for the workshop, where they will share knowledge of space science among the participants who will be made aware of the space environment and its vivid aspects.

Two cubes selected from Nepal will be sent to the US.

Seventy-three countries in the world have already participated in this project and Nepal is participating for the first time.
