KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association, which has been protesting continuously demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, has made public programs of its fourth phase of the agitation.
Issuing a statement Saturday, Nepal Bar General Secretary Lilamani Poudel revealed the programs of phased agitation starting Sunday till Friday. Refusing CJ Rana’s olive branch, Nepal Bar had announced the fourth phase of agitation Friday.
On Sunday, lawyers across the country will not participate in debate and other court proceedings to protest the use of force inside the Supreme Court. However, hebeas corpus cases will be heard.
Similarly, on Monday, black band sit-in protest will take place from 10 am to 12 pm in courts across the country and demonstration will be continued and memorandums will be handed over to the parties in the parliament. On Tuesday, lawyers will again not do any professional work in courts and most of the legal proceedings will be halted.
On Wednesday, a mass demonstration will be held in the district and high courts and places where benches of the courts are constituted in the presence of Nepal Bar central representatives.
Thursday and Friday will be more Kathmandu or Supreme Court-centric programs, with Bar members of all units in Kathmandu will participate in a massive demonstration against CJ Rana.
Meanwhile, Nepal Bar also postponed its national assembly slated to be held from December 10 to 12 in Pokhara.
