KP Oli blocked my proposal to amend constitution: Maoist Chair Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the constitution could not be amended due to CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

He added that UML Chair had blocked a proposal he forwarded to the parliament that would have amended the constitution to ensure the rights of women, children, Muslims and Madhesis. He also described UML Chair Oli as an anti-Madhesi villain at a program held at Katahariya in Rautahat Saturday.

He said, “When I became the Prime Minister for the second time, I had taken a proposal to the House of Representatives to amend the constitution to empower Madhesi, women and children, the oppressed community and the marginalized. However, anti-constitutional, anti-republic, anti-secular, anti-Madhesi Oli blocked the proposal.”

On the occasion, Prachana said that the CPN-Maoist is likely to become the number one party again. He said that the Maoist party would be number one this time as well as it was in 2007. He added he would take initiative to operate the Shri Ram Sugar Mill at Rautahat, which is currently closed, and to build embankment to control the Bakaiya Bagmati River.

He also said that he would take initiative to solve the problem of sugarcane farmers and try to keep the Nisach community of Madhes in a special protected community for their identity. He also announced to take initiative for the establishment of a Muslim university as per the demand of the Muslim community.
