Unseasonal rain claims 10 in Sudurpashchim alone, 23 missing

SUDURPASHCHIM: As many as 10 persons have so far lost their lives in the incidents of natural disaster occurred in Sudurpashchim province with incessant rain.

Among those killed in the landslide incidents are Ashish Kunjeda, 11, Sagar Kunjeda, 14, Jogi Sarki, 63, Sher Bahadur BK, 42, Mohan BK, 13-year-old Pabitra BK, Rabin BK, 16 and 36-year-old Mandhara Balayar of Doti.

Likewise, those killed in Dadeldhura are Bishnu Awasthee, 32, and 65-year-old Narpata Shahi.

As many as 23 people went missing in landslides occurred at Thalara rural municipality-4 of Bajhang district. Police personnel have already reached the landslide-hit site on Tuesday evening.

As informed, Ganesh Auji, 30, Khadak Ghartimagar, 61, Bikram Ghartimagar, 35, and Khadak Ranamagar, 26, of Kailali and Bire Rokaya, 74, of Doti went missing in the river.

Communication services including internet connectivity have been snapped in the mountainous districts of the province with incessant rain. Electricity supply has also been disrupted in most of the disaster-hit areas.

Separate squads of Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been deputed for relief and rescue works in the flood and landslide-ravaged areas.
Rescue and relief works have also been obstructed in some areas due to unfavourable weather condition
