Govt administering Vero Cell vaccine across country today

KATHMANDU: The government is administering the first dose of Vero Cell vaccines across the country from today.

The nationwide vaccination campaign will run until October 1 from today, according to Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari.

The vaccination will be administered to the people above 18 years of age in Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Rasuwa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Dolpa, Bajura and Darchula, said Adhikari.

Similarly, the vaccination will be administered to those above 35 years of age and those students above 18 years of age who are yet to be vaccinated in Kavre and Chitwan districts.

Likewise, the Ministry of Health and Population has stated that all the citizens above 40 years of age in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Makwanpur, Ramechhap, Sarlahi and Achham and those students above 18 years of age will be vaccinated.

Similarly, in the remaining 58 districts except Manang, Mustang and Rukum East, all the remaining citizens above 35 years of age and students above 18 years of age will be vaccinated.

In addition to that, those who have been working in the front line, essential services, tourism sector, hotel business and teachers will be vaccinated. This time, the citizens who receive the first dose of vaccine will get the second dose of vaccine from October 21 to 31, the ministry said.

Second dose of Vero Cell in Kathmandu from today

The second dose of Vero Cell vaccine will be given in the Kathmandu Valley from today, according to the Ministry.

According to Badri Bahadur Khadka, Chief of the Health Office, Kathmandu, the second dose of Vero Cell will be given in the Valley for three days starting today.

Although the first dose will be given in other districts, the second dose will be given to 240,000 people in the Valley who have been vaccinated before, said Chief Khadka.

Chief Khadka further said that 145 vaccination centers have been set up in Kathmandu for inoculation.
