Madhav Nepal’s new party to be named “CPN-Unified Socialist”

KATHMANDU: The Madhav Kumar Nepal faction has proposed “CPN-Unified Socialist” as the name of his new party.

He has proposed the name with the Election Commission (EC) for the registration of a new party.

Earlier, the CPN-UML was given the name CPN-UML (Samajwadi) but now the name of the party will be “CPN-Unified Socialist”.

On Friday, a team including leader Rajendra Pandey reached the Election Commission and amended the party’s name.

The new name was proposed after the EC rejected the previously proposed CPN-UML (Socialist) saying it was similar to the main party.

Meanwhile, the EC is yet to finalize the party’s election symbol.
