JSP Upendra Yadav faction’s PP meet approves PP statute



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the parliamentary party (PP) of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Upendra Yadav faction has approved the party’s PP statute.

The meeting of the JSP PP held at Singha Durbar Tuesday decided to pass the PP statute (with amendments) and submit it to the party for endorsement.

JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav said the federal PP statute was discussed and approved. He added they did not discussion about JSP participation in the government. “The PP statute has been passed,” JSP Chair Yadav said, adding, “The JSP is a single party, not two different parties.” JSP Federal Council Chairman Babu Ram Bhattarai confirmed that Tuesday’s meeting centered only on JSP PP statute.

However, JSP Mahantha Thakur faction of the party has picked leader Rajendra Mahato as the PP leader.

JSP lawmaker Ram Babu Yadav said office-bearers of the PP would be selected accordingly after the PP statute is approved from the party. He added that Chair Yadav faction commanded the majority in the Executive Committee and had support of majority JSP lawmakers.

Lawmaker Ram Babu Yadav said the party would decide PP office-bearers in the next few days after the Election Commission (EC) decision on legitimacy of the party arrives. “Participation in the government will also be decided after the EC ruling,” he added.
