JSP Chairman Yadav calls PP meet to discuss the party constitution

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) chairman Upendra Yadav has called a meeting of the parliamentary party to discuss on various issues related to the party constitution.

According to JSP sources, the PP meet is expected to discuss about the latest political scenario including the party’s Mahantha Thakur’s ‘U turn’ to support Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba despite retaining the connection with former PM KP Oli, the prospective leaders to lead the party in Deuba-led cabinet, party’s agenda and the ongoing dispute over the authenticity of the party.

Although still waiting for the official split, the rivalling factions led by Chairman Yadav and chairman Thakur are in muscle-stretching from local level committees to the party center.

Despite Yadav faction’s objection, Thakur faction has appointed Rajendra Mahato as it’s PP leader. The meeting called by Yadav is expected to settle on the PP leader’s name.

Tuesday’s PP meeting called at Singha Durbar, however, will not see the Thakur faction leaders as they have not been invited for it.

JSP sources claim that the party is mulling over joining the government only after July 25.

JSP dispute is also under consideration in the Election Commission.
