Prohibitory order to be extended with systematic easing of restrictions

Valley CDOs meeting at 5pm today

KATHMANDU: The administrations are preparing to ease restrictions systematically to allow private vehicles to operate in the Kathmandu Valley as the prohibitory order is extended.

According to sources, District Crisis Management Committees (DCCMCs) of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts have suggested allowing private vehicles to ply the road; however, the modalities (odd-even rule or something else) are yet to finalized. DCCMCs also suggested other measures: Food shops open till 4 pm and other businesses operate on specified days.

However, the Chief District Officers (CDOs) have to consult with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC).

The current order is expiring Monday. And Valley CDOs are meeting at 5 pm Sunday (today) to decide on the extension of the order. Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases are also declining in the Valley.

Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Prem Prasad Bhattarai, said, “The restriction will be extended but it will be slightly relaxed and systematic.”
