President Bhandari issues two ordinances

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has issued two ordinances Thursday evening.

Issuing a statement Thursday evening, the President’s Office informed about the ordinances.

The ordinances are related to the oath of office and secrecy, and COVID-19 Crisis management, and issued as per Article 114 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers

The constitution states that the prime minister and ministers will be sworn in according to federal law, however, no such law had been enacted so far.

The oath-related law was sought after a case was filed in the Supreme Court over the recent swearing-in of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, in which he refused to read out as was written.

President issued oath-related ordinance as there was a need for oath law as envisioned by the constitution.
