KATHMANDU: The national men’s football team is set to fly to Iraq on May 25 to play a friendly match. The match is scheduled for May 29. The team will board an aircraft of Qatar Airways.
Following this match, the Nepali team will head to Kuwait to play a FIFA World Cup qualifying match, said the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
Nepali National team coach Abdullah Almutairi recently announced a 23-member football team for the friendly and qualifying matches and the Asian Cup qualifying match.
Placed into Group ‘B’, Nepal is scheduled to take on with Chinese Taipei, Jordan, and Australia in the World Cup qualifying match. Under the World Cup qualifying match, Nepal has got one victory and lost four matches.
The football team set to fly to Iraq includes goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong, players Bishal Sunar, Deep Karki, Rohit Chand, Ananta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbamshi, Gautam Shrestha, Suman Aryal, Bikash Khawas, Bishal Rai, Manish Dangi,
Arik Bista, Kamal Thapa, Santosh Tamang, Suman Lama, Sunil Bal, Suraj Jyu Thakuri, Pujan Uparkoti, Ayush Ghalan Avishek Rijal, Anjan Bista Nawayug Shrestha and Ashish Lama.
The team is scheduled to return home on June 12.
