Banke decides lockdown for a week

NEPALGUNJ: Amid the explosive rise in the coronavirus cases in the district, Banke has decided to go for lockdown for a week starting from Thursday.

The District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (DCCMC), Banke, has decided to enforce lock down for a week as the number of coronavirus infections is increasing daily.

According to health officials in Banke, as many as 866 people have been infected in Banke district till Tuesday. There are more than 500 cases in Nepalgunj sub-metropolis alone.

The death toll induced by the pandemic is going high as well.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Shivaram Gelal, said that the DCCMC meeting also attended by political parties, Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, doctors and others has decided to recommend for the lockdown as a means to curb the wide-spreading virus.

Banke has decided to start the lockdown from April 22.
