UML Vice Chairman Gautam happy with UML revival, strives for party unity

KATHMANDU: Stating that he was elated with the Supreme Court (SC) decision reviving the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam has urged Prime Minister and party Chairman KP Oli to be flexible for party unity.

Taking part in UML’s Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting held at PM Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar earlier Saturday, Vice Chairman Gautam asked PM Oli to revoke his March 12 decisions and act pro-actively for party unity, a party source said.

He urged the PM to review his past decisions and revoke unilateral decisions.

Gautam requested Chairman Oli to be more flexible to retain the party unity.

The leader attended today’s PP meet for the first time after the Supreme Court’s March 7 verdict that nullified the merger of erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).

He had been skipping the party meetings organized by both Chairman Oli faction and Nepal-Khanal faction of the party as their tussle for power continued.
