NC starts discussions on no-confidence motion of state governments

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) party has initiated discussions on the no-confidence motion against the state governments.

The Prachanda-Madhav group of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has filed a no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister of Province 1 and Bagmati Province. The NC is decisive in the power equation in both these states.

While the Prime Minister KP Oli faction and Prachanda-Madhav faction are at loggerheads, NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday held discussions with the leaders of State 1 at his Budhanilakantha-based residence.

The discussion basically focused on three options: To remain silent on the no-confidence motion; support the no-confidence motion as an opposition party; and give the right to the concerned state to decide.

The meeting held on Wednesday, meanwhile could not come to a conclusion due to diverse views coming from the party leaders.

Deuba, meanwhile, has decided to hold discussions with the leaders and parliamentarians of all the three states on August 22.
