Incessant rain causes floods in Mahakali river, inundates 200 houses

KAILALI: The incessant rains continuing from Sunday have caused inundation along the banks of the Mahakali river.

Floodwaters have entered the houses of locals in Bhimdatta municipality-9, 12 and 13. A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been deployed to rescue locals. The water volume in the Mahakali river has been measured as 391,364 cusecs as of 5 am today. This is the highest volume of water ever since 2070 BS.

Similarly, the water has also entered the temporary camp of Armed Police Force at Kutiyakabar in Jogbudha in Dodhara Chandani municipality.

Over 200 houses have been inundated in Bhimdatta municipality-12 (Airighat, Odali, ward 13 (Badhaipur and Piparaiya, informed DSP Jivan Gurung of Area Police Office Gaddachauki.

The rescued have been kept at Janata Primary School, Airighat, he informed.
