KATHMANDU: Various Heads of State and of governments have extended best wishes to Nepal and Nepalis on the occasion of Constitution Day today.

Addressing President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, the foreign Heads of States and of governments sent separate congratulatory messages.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that messages of best wishes came from 23 countries, including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the US, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, and Japan.

On the occasion, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, sent the best wishes message to President Bidya Devi Bhandari, stating that the relations between India and Nepal are marked by enduring historical, cultural, economic and familial linkages.

These have been nurtured over time by strong people-to-people ties and robust high-level exchanges.

“We hope to build on the strong foundations of our age and partnership, to further expand our multi-dimensional ties, for the mutual benefit of our two peoples and the region,” he mentioned in the best wishes message.

Addressing Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi wrote in the best wishes message, “As the world inches towards recovery from the unprecedented COVID pandemic, India reiterates its continued and steadfast support to Nepal in its efforts to deal with the challenges of the pandemic.”

Modi further said, “I look forward to closely working with you to give further momentum to our strong ties and the realization of the shared goals of peace and prosperity of our two peoples through a vibrant and multidimensional partnership.”

Similarly, the US President Joe Biden extended congratulations to President Bhandari, stating, “This past year has seen our cooperation grow as together we have confronted shared challenges. In particular, we have worked together to combat the COVID 19 pandemic, tackle the climate crisis, and improve our economic ties. We celebrate our enduring friendship that has strengthened through more than seventy years of diplomatic relations.”

Likewise, the US President said the educational, business, social and political relations between the two countries continue to grow as our people-to-people ties bring us together.

“Our commitment to Nepal and its democracy and sovereignty remain steadfast, and Nepal’s resilience is an example to the region,” he said, adding, “The US is eager to deepen our relationships, and it is with great pride that I wish you and all people of Nepal a wonderful Constitution Day.”

Likewise, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has expressed his best wishes on the occasion of Nepal’s Constitution Day.

Sending a congratulatory message to President Bidya Devi Bhandari today, President Putin said that relations between Russia and Nepal were friendly and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation in various fields would be further enhanced.

President Putin also expressed confidence that the bilateral relationship would move forward in the interests of the people of both countries and that it would ensure regional security and stability.

He wished President Bhandari good health and success as well as peace and welfare of the Nepali people.
